All Natural Deoderant That REALLY Works!!

I have been on a quest to a COMPLETELY non-toxic home. Deodorant was one of the last on my list. I know it should be one of the first. (I have been aware of ALL the toxic ingredients in conventional deodorants for a long time.) But to be honest, I just really didn't think a natural
deodorant would be as effective as my store bought brand. I had tried many of the store bought and online "natural deodorants" people have talked about. But they just did not work for me. And I did NOT want to stink.

So I decided, heck I will attempt to make my own with my Young Living essential oils. I use my oils for everything else, why not try deodorant? It was the BEST decision. This deodorant works better than ANY other deodorant I have ever used, and it's completely non-toxic. If only you could have seen me the first week of using this. I was constantly smelling my pits. I had not told my husband I testing some "new" deodorant. One day while in the car, I lifted up my arms to smell my armpits. He said, "What the heck are you you doing?" Haha!! I died laughing. I have been using it now for over a month. I have tested it out many times while working out, jogging in 90 degree heat... still no stink. I even have my husband using it now too. He says it's the best deodorant he has ever used as well. This stuff is the bomb!!

I do have one little secret though. I use what I call, "Pit Primer" before applying my deodorant. (My husband does not use this, but I like to.) The concept is similar to applying primer to your face before make-up. I find that using the "Pit Primer" dries my armpits really well, allowing my deodorant to go on better. And honestly some days if I am not doing much, I only apply the "Pit Primer." It works great!! Give it try. Let me know what you think.

Pit Primer Recipe:

Ingredients:

Directions:
  1. Add the arrowroot powder to a small glass bowl, (LIKE THESE.)
  2. Then add your Purification Essential Oil.
  3. Place the lid on the bowl and shake well.
  4. Using a fan brush, (like THIS ONE) apply to underarms before applying your deodorant.

Deodorant Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup coconut oil (Find it HERE)
  • 3 Tbsp beeswax pellets (Find it HERE)
  • 2 Tbsp shea butter (Find it HERE)
  • 1/3 cup arrowroot powder (Find it HERE)
  • 1-2 Tbsp baking soda **use less or omit if you have sensitive skin** (Find natural baking soda HERE)
  • 10 drops Young Living Purification Essential Oil (where to buy essential oils
  • 10 drops Young Living Tea Tree Oil (where to buy essential oils)
***This recipe fills 2 deodorant containers (Find them HERE)***

Directions:
  1. In a double broiler or glass bowl, melt the coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter over low heat. Stir until melted.
  2. Once melted, let sit for 20 minutes at the melting point. (This prevents any grittiness to your deodorant.)
  3. After the 20 minutes is up, remove from heat and whisk in the arrowroot powder and baking soda. Then add your essential oils. Mix well but quickly as the mixture will start to thicken.
  4. Pour into two empty deodorant containers (LIKE THESE) and let them sit for a couple hours to set. You can place in the fridge to speed up the process if you would like. Once set, place the lid on.
I would love to hear how this deodorant worked for you. Leave me a comment below. If you are interested in creating a healthy, non-toxic home, you can join the class I have going on right now HERE.

  1. Hello! I love this recipe for deodorant. But because of the beeswax it makes cleaning up the utensils and bowls very time consuming. Do you have any tips for making it easier? Thanks for sharing the recipe!

    1. I use a glass bowl when I make mine. When I am done, I stick the bowl in the microwave to make it nice and warm. Then I take paper towels and wipe it out. If there is still residue left on the bowl, my Thieves Dish soap takes care of it. As for the utensils, I soak them in hot water and my Thieves Dish Soap. Cleans them right up. I hope that helps :)
